ARC Review: I Love You, I Hate You by Elizabeth Davis

Of all the decisions brilliant lawyer Victoria Clemenceaux has made in her life, an unforgettable one-night stand with her opposing counsel Owen Pohl is either the worst…or the best.

One thing is certain: these long-standing rivals aren’t going to let their searing attraction stop them from winning the biggest case of their careers. Thankfully Victoria and Owen have someone to vent to about their nemeses. But they have no idea that their online ‘friends’, Nora and Luke, are the very people they hate in real life.

As Nora and Luke grow closer online, and Victoria and Owen find their undeniable attraction harder to resist, the lines between love and hate blur. When the truth comes out, will their online chemistry work in the real world, or will their constant rivalry sever their connection?

I Love You, I Hate You is a really enjoyable and fun read.  It’s well written, compelling and a refreshing spin on the film You’ve Got Mail.  The author has brought it up to date in her own imaginative style, also incorporating social media which has become an essential part of our world today.  The main protagonists, Victoria and Owen, are both lawyers and arch enemies professionally, however under pseudo names they are unknowingly really good friends on Twitter, which adds an interesting twist.  Victoria has a group of Twitter friends who offer her advice and support and I enjoyed their internet conversations and banter.

The story is well structured, the narrative goes back and forth between the two main characters with some intermittent internet conversations in between.  I liked the 90s music references, which brought back great memories.  The romance is delicious with some sizzling chemistry and intense heated moments.

The perfect enemies to lovers romance with some great dialogue and their banter both on Twitter and in a professional capacity was perfection.  It is a fast-paced and compelling read which was over far too quickly.  I enjoyed the author’s writing style and I will definitely be watching out for any future novels.
